Do You Qualify?
Living separate and apart for at least one year
No outstanding disputes about property division, spousal support, child support, parenting time or decision-making responsibility.
Reasonable child support arrangements if you have children
At least one spouse has lived in Ontario for at least one year immediately before the divorce application is started.
An uncontested divorce generally takes approximately four to six months from the date the completed application is submitted to the court. Processing times may vary depending on the court’s workload, service requirements, the completeness of the documents and the circumstances of your case.
A Divorce Order normally becomes effective on the 31st day after it is granted. Once the divorce takes effect, you and your former spouse are legally divorced, whether or not you obtain a Certificate of Divorce. A Certificate of Divorce is optional and serves as official proof that your marriage has legally ended. We can assist you in obtaining one for an additional fee.
